Artwork Guide.

File Types

We are happy to work with the following types of file:

We can accept Microsoft Office files but we need to charge a £4.99 fee to convert these to print ready files. We would also suggest that a proof would be requested to ensure the conversion is what you require. If your artwork is in a file type not listed please contact us to see if we will be able to use it.

Bleed

A bleed is required for the following products:

• Business Cards
• Flyers
• Leaflets
• Letterheads

Please create all documents with a 2mm bleed all around. For example if you require an A5 print (210 x 148 mm) please ensure that the document is sized to 214 x 152 mm. The 2mm bleed will be trimmed after print. We are able to add bleed to your artwork for £2.99 if you are unable to provide artwork with bleed.

Trim

Products are trimmed to the final size after printing. The trim size is the part of the artwork that is left after cutting and the bleed is removed from the print. We recommend not placing any text or important areas of the document within 5mm of the trim line due to small variances in the trimming procedure. We also strongly advise against hairline borders of any kind, especially on smaller products as minor variances in the trimming can create and off centre affect on the finished product.

Proofs

We do not provide proofs as standard due to time restrictions in getting your order to you as quickly as possible. Should you require a proof please select this option when ordering and a proof will be emailed to you for approval. If you are unsure of how the finished artwork will look we would recommend choosing a proof option.

CMYK

CMYK files are required for the following products:

• Business Cards
• Flyers
• Leaflets
• Letterheads

Please ensure that all documents are saved in CMYK colour mode, not RGB. Any documents sent in RGB will have to be converted by us and important colours may change during this conversion. It is important to remember that a computer screen will display a file in RGB so if you are in doubt please contact us and we can send a printed proof to you. We are currently unable to print any Spot Colours or Pantone Colours, these will be converted to the closest CMYK colour.

We are happy to accept RGB or CMYK files for all our photo gift products. The preferred colour space for photo gift products is Adobe RGB.

Resolution

We recommend different resolutions for different products. To ensure the best results when printing please be sure to create your artwork at the resolution specified below. Artwork sent with a lower resolution than that recommended may result in a blurry or pixellated print.

Layers & Fonts

Please ensure that all fonts are supplied with the artwork or converted to paths or outlines where applicable. Layers must be flattened in all files to avoid problems during printing.

Imposition

Please do not supply imposed work or work that is in 'printers pairs'.

Artwork Modifications

We can perform minor changes to your artwork free of charge. If any more significant modification of the artwork is required this will be charged for. In these cases we will hold your order and contact you (usually via email). If you do not wish to pay any extra charges we are still able to accept new print ready files at this stage for no extra cost.

Artwork from Existing Print

We are able to take artwork from existing Printed Material such as business cards though we recommend our Design service as we can reconstruct the image. This will ensure the best quality print.

Print Output

Depending on the product type selected, the print job may be processed on a variety of different machines. These machines have been calibrated to give as close a colour match as possible though there will be some minor variations. Colour variation can also occur when comparing print from one media to another.

Non Print Ready Artwork

If you submit artwork that is not print ready additional costs may be incurred to make the file print ready. There may also be a delay to the delivery of your order whilst we make the necessary amendments for print. For best results and quickest processing times we always recommend that you use one of our templates when creating your artwork.

White Space

If you submit an image for print with a white border we will keep this border and not crop it unless specifically asked by you to do so.
